Best places to travel internationally?
Unfortunately I've never been out of the country, but I got my passport recently. The wife & I are planning to travel somewhere this Spring, but not really sure where. I was thinking London or Amsterdam would be cool, but I'd also like to see Japan, and I think Japan would be an overall cheaper trip, wouldn't it?
For those of you who have traveled internationally, what has been your favorite experience? Anyone been somewhere that most people don't even think of/know of when they think of international travel? How did you find the US Dollar translated in terms of getting hotels, food, gifts, etc. etc. Last edited by Answer; 12-22-2018 at 11:18 AM. |

Japan was awesome.
Italy was nice. Spain was gorgeous. France was cool. European Tour was also really nice. Next on my list is Eqypt and South Africa. Then you have the typical vacation spots like, Hawaii, Jamaica, St. Thomas, Aruba, Mexico/Cancun, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, etc... |

My grandparents are European immigrants
They've only ever given one travel suggestion for Europe 'carry something sharp in case you see a gypsy' |

Southern Europe would be the place to go. Japan is fucking weird, so is Singapore. I had the most fun of my life in Canada.
I'd recommend Thailand though. You could rent a house with cooks, maid staff, and even have a few prostitutes to live at the house with you...and you'd STILL have difficulty spending $1000 including the cost of food and booze for yourself and everyone at the house.

Go to Australia beautiful, great beaches and zoo's. A lot of musical festivals there. I also loved Malta and cape verde.
Iceland is waiting for you.

I've only been to Malaga in Spain and Lanzarote.
Both were great, Lanzarote is a beautiful island.

I wouldn't go to Egypt quite yet, at least not as a first place to go outside the US. Still a lot tension and even when we were there 10 years ago before shit hit the fan we were adviced by locals to not even joke about being from the US and keep our passports close.
That said tho, if you stay close to anything touristy and don't walk too far away from those places there shouldn't be any surprises. Lovely country, messed up political tension that may or may not get worse while you're there. Nordic countries are safe af but expensive as shit tho, but prone to open my house if you need a place to stay close to Oslo, Norway. Eastern european countries can be tons of fun, just do your homework on local ethics etc. first (kinda goes for wherever you're traveling to). Spain, Germany, Italy and Netherland are awesome and pretty safe. Asia is dope af from what I've heard (food, people, places/monuments) just do your homework on certain places/countries to avoid. Heard great things about Japan and China.
