Welcome to a place I visit when I'm calm,
Where living is prolonged, souls drifting through the palms,
Light glistens on a pond, I squint from the glare,
Eyes closed, I still know what thrives and grows from the scents in the air,
Wisened oaks ignore time's flow without pretending to care,
Wishing I could do the same, I sit and write my newest pain,
This ignites the bluest flame inside,
Deciding living was a foolish game was when I truly came alive,
The water ripples at my understanding,
Footprints become visible where no one is standing,
With my lungs expanding, it becomes harder to breathe,
I knew something inside my heart was deceived,
What happened next will be hard to believe,
But it's my hope that you'll partly conceive...my soul broke apart from my needs,
Like I'd awoken from a sleep, letting go I dove into the deep,
Deciding then and there to be the author of a song,
Telling sons and daughters we'd been living underwater all along.
