we walk in a city that's neither awkward or pretty..

yet it's defined by hate, consisting of the foulest behavior
we're the perfect canvas, but God hasn't found us a painter
our brain's hempisphere's have both been pounded by nature
left surrounded by danger, and the right clouded with failure
even if an escape is planned, downfall is likely to follow
getting lost in today can cause losing sight of tomorrow
seeing MY city struggle on the corner; i'm full of sorrow
i flick it coins for food, though it craves Heineken bottles
experience is the best teacher, and who has kept me alive
knowledge is equal to playing a game of chess with the wise
we rid ourselves of flaws with high hopes to better our pride
but problems and issues won't be resolved if we set them aside
levels of mental anguish can taint those with relevant eyes
hindering those from seeing the sunshine and elegant skies
we ARE this city; what it represents, it's pain and it's art
a constructed physique with a foundation,

but without a name or a heart.
