The Place: The Colliseum of Rome’s Antiquity

The Plot:

In the 5th year of Emperor Thadius Tiberus’ reign a heralded gladiator, Anaccus Aerilius, has won over the hearts and imagination of the Empire. Imposing in stature as well as reputation he stands undefeated in 100 matches versus all manner of foe, man and beast. Desperate to find a worthy foe his handlers have scoured foreign lands and pitted him against not only Roman gladiators, but Asian masters of arts martial, unarmed Indian fighters, Barbatrian norsemen from Gaul and still none have been able to withstand his ferocity. One man is not pleased with the warriors widespread fame, though…Seffus Maximus, the greatest single fighter in Romes history, and also the gladiator master who has trained Anacuss in the deadly arts. Overjoyed at first with the mindboggling dedication that Annacus approached his lessons…the master has watched with concern as his once well grounded student ahs grown more callous and cruel as the fame and accolades were cast at his feet. Always one to grant foes a swift merciful death, Maximus was horrified at the cruel manner in which Annacus would torture his foes…all for the enjoyment of the blodd thirsty mob. Aware of Maximus growing discontent…Annacus has begun to distance himself from his once beloved master. He is a gladiator..and bloodletting is his calling..is it his fault if he happens to enjoy what he was put on earth to do.. Months go by…with Maximus’ anxiety growing as Annacuses draws further and further away from the principles of Honor he tried so hard to instill in him. It becomes apparent to Seffus what he must do..For years the Patrons and aristocrats have been calling for Romes greatest gladiator to come out of retirement..for its most valiant fighter to give this upstart a much needed lesson in humility..But the arena is not a playground..in this classroom ..a students discipline is none other than the ultimate casualty. Maximus heart grows heavy as he realize what he must do. He is the one who created Annacus. He is the one who taught him the craft. So he is the one who must end his reign, He is the one who must return him to…Alisium.
