Introduction


Yo guys. Last week was cool. Had a few good matches, notably Karaoke beating Phuck Yew to become NBL champ - Congrats to him. This week he'll face Orc for the first title defense in what should be a dope battle. I dont feel like taking too long here so lets get started.

Reviews

Champ Match: Karaoke vs Phuck Yew
This was a good champ match. Karaoke came in undefeated for good reason and it showed here. The usual current event flip combined with some fresh name flips gave him a huge edge over Phuck, who was really his own worst enemy here. His verse was pretty solid overall, but he had a few played ideas trying to flip Karaoke’s name. Voters agreed that Karaoke took it handily, and with unanimous voter decision he becomes the first weekly champ of NBL’s 7th season, going on to defend his title against Orc.

Contender Match: Neighbor (4-0) vs Orc (3-0)
Considering this almost didn’t happen, this was a great battle. Both of these guys are dope battlers and can usually bring heat no matter what, and for verses that seemed a bit rushed from each that’s exactly what happened. Voters had it close, with a few quotes from each and preference of non-quotes seemed to be the deciding factor and based on that, Orc took all but one vote and moves on to face Karaoke for the NBL title.

Alvin Karpis (2-0) vs Greed (2-2)

Greed has run into some decent competition after two no show wins, but is capable of doing more damage than he gets credit for. The quality of this battle will basically come down to how Greed’ll show, and he has the power to make it entertaining...

Not saying I called it at all, but I thought Greed would be capable of making this a good battle. He did everything he could’ve to make a good battle happen but surprisingly, Karpis didn’t do anything close to what he’s capable of. While his verse wasn’t bad, it was a lot less than expected, even for what should’ve been a fairly easy win. It was still close, voters split who they thought win but Greed ended up taking it by 2 votes. Karp, if you’re reading this please come back.

Lotto Smirk (2-3) vs Tic Tac (2-3)
Alright battle. Both guys dropped worse than they had in previous battles, but still had decent hits. It was pretty close overall, the main difference in voting was whether voters thought Lotto’s hits were powerful enough to overshadow Tic Tac’s consistency or vice versa. Most voters gave Lotto the edge, citing his ‘Sharp point’ line as the line of the battle. Always appreciate a shoutout. Lotto climbs to 3-3 while Tic moves to 2-4.

Jimmy (0-0) vs Texcellence (0-0)
Alright battle from two guys who I’m happy to see in the league since they’ve been active in the BA lately. Both of these guys have strong wording which can really carry you far in a league, but both struggled with effective punches. Voters seemed to unanimously agree that Jimmy’s concepts were delivered in a more damaging way and gave him the win, usually by a margin of one quote.

Power Ranks

1. Karaoke
At 7-0, dude is a powerhouse in the league. He’s able to beat just about anyone with a good enough showing. Undefeated and the first champ of the season, it’s hard to pick against him.

2. Orc
If anyone in the NBL can top Karaoke, Orc’s definitely one of the first guys I’d think could do it. He’s been season champ multiple times in the past and seems motivated to do it again.

3. ill nik-A
Another vet who’s got the motivation to do damage. If he beats Greed this week he’ll be in a contender match and he’s fully capable of beating anyone.

4. CtrlF4
Dude’s been under the radar but he’s the favorite to win his contender match. Ctrl tends to drop dope stuff when he can and is definitely capable of getting to and winning champ matches.

5. Sn00p
Freshly signed in with an even record. If Sn00p hangs around I expect him to rise quickly in the rankings and he’s shown he can beat most of the league’s most powerful battlers.

6. Neighbor
Just lost a contender match but has an otherwise great record of 4-1. If he stays in the league he’s definitely going to climb back to contender and champ matches.

7. Destroyer
Des is my sleeper pick to do damage this season. His record isn’t great but he can come back from it (Lotto Smirk just came back from 1-3) and Destro’s experience and reputation speaks for itself.

8. Phuck Yew
He’s still got the second best record overall and is active enough where he could make his way into another contender match without much issue.

Alright, Sharp Nine aka Earthworm Gin aka Bob Zagat here with newly crowned King Karaoke. Congrats on beating Phuck Yew for the title. What's up, sir?

Hi...

I'm good man. Just sitting on the throne thinking about Neighbor's girl and Orc's mom. Big ups to Phuck. he did his thing. People said he wasn't much competition. Ive seen some good verses from the guy.

Your first title defense battle is against Orc, and you've got a battle with Aero in UTC. Any thoughts on these matches?

Last time I champed the league, I defended the title against Orc and I won. We're 1-1. I'm somewhat motivated to beat him again. When I'm motivated, I usually win. This is my second longest undefeated streak in the NBL. Last time, I was 9-0 until I no showed.

I like Orc. I want to be his step father. Honestly, when I came to this site. Orc was my favorite battler. I was amazed that he was from Ireland but he has the swagger of a street battler. I like his style. If it wasn't for the whole biting incidences, he would be top 5 all of all time.

Im pretty motivated to battle Aero simply because we've never had an 1 on 1 battle. In real life, I smash chicks on the first try. I do the same when I battle. I destroy my opponents on the first try.


How do you think the league is doing? Is there anything you'd do differently?

I like the league. There isn't anything that I would do differently.There's some talent signing in. I just hope that they show. Pussies need to stop signing out after losing. Alphabet needs to stop asking for 5 day extensions. Stop signing in as aliases and joint accounts. You guys will never be Island. The shit is corny. These Captain Faggot ass niggas want to combine their powers like I wont cut their heads off.



What are your thoughts on the current state of NCs? Is there anything you'd like to see change?

NCs is becoming wack. Its full of weirdoes. Every time I come on the site there's a gay thread. There's no focus on battling anymore. The only things that are important to this site are poetry battles and trolling. The race threads are so corny. I tell white boys not to say nigga/nigger and I get accused of being white. White boys are calling me white as insult. Thats crazy. I don't participate in that corny shit. You've got dudes pretending to be parents, cops, correctional officers, robots and dinosaurs and you gonna have the nerve to call me white. Wow. There are a lot of dudes on here who are useless. Witty and Split Eight are prime examples. Masaii steals personalities. You ever see that before? A grown ass man takes on another's man's persona? First, he tried to be like Hush, now he's trying to be Lars. Discussion is full of Bags' followers which is why NCs is failing. Too much focus on lulz and roflzzzz. You should be making dudes lulzzz and roflzz with punchlines. You got nerds making pictographs, pie charts and writing essays yet theyre too cool to text battle. Theyre too busy trying to impress each other. We all grow up. This is a hobby and sometimes we grow out of our hobbies but guys on here rather make sexual advances at each other on the discussion board as opposed to insulting each other in a battle. Battling is why this site exists in the first place. Biting and forced multies aside, Big ups to Orc and Neighbor because I see that they are trying to keep text battling relevant.

Who are your top active heads in text? Is there anyone youd like to see getting active again?

Right now it's me, Cashius (if they haven't disbanded), Orc, Dominate and Neighbor. I want to see Namix, Joe Metts, Beyond, Hens and some of the other legendary dudes come back.

On a side note, watch out for Ctrl he can be a beast when he wants to be. That's the problem with text. There's no new dude coming up that's making the older dudes hungry to battle. Its all the old dudes battling each other over and over again.

And on another side note, Ill Nik-A keeps telling Orc "Ill see you in a few weeks" That shit is hilarious to me. Nigga go sit your old ass down. Youre washed up. Put him in the hof and let him go die somewhere.

Champ Match: Karaoke (7-0) vs Orc (4-0)
Will be dope. Both guys are capable of beating anyone when they want to show and it looks like both will be bringing their A-game here. Karaoke hasn’t had too big of an opponent since Cashius a few weeks back while Orc has been seeing simpler opponents (barring Neighbor who it looked like would no show) so it’s been hard to gauge what each dude is going to do, and with so many different possibilities I can‘t make a convincing prediction either way.

Either way: 50/50

Contender Match: CtrlF4 (4-0) vs Unfukwitable (4-3)
Should be cool. Ctrl’s been killing it lately but hasn’t been tested too much yet. Unfukwitable has been doing well but can be played at times, and can have shaky wording. All in all this should be a good one but I think Ctrl’s going to be able to win pretty easily,

CtrlF4: 65/35

Phuck Yew (6-1) vs Neighbor (4-1)
Hopefully Neighbor can show for this, since this could be a great battle. Both guys are just coming off of loses in great battles and can definitely make a great battle happen, and if both show about as well as they can it’ll be a great read. That said I think Neigh can be a lot harsher and I’d expect him to win.

Neighbor: 70/30

ill nik-A (3-1) vs Greed (3-2)
Well shit. I picked Greed to lose last week and he came with one his best verses to date, but some of that win was Karpis underestimating him big time. Nik already had a loss that I think will be his continued motivation to not come too lazy in the future. Greed can do well here but I think nik’ll take it.

ill nik-A: 70/30

Lotto Smirk (3-3) vs Jimmy (1-0)
This should be cool, both guys are doing alright in battling but have some issues. Lotto’s wording can be a hindrance while Jimmy can often come up with less effective concepts. This one really can go either way depending on who brings more so I’d have to say its relatively even.

Either Way: 50/50

Tic Tac (2-4) vs Defiant (1-2)
Tic Tac’s been doing his thing lately, his loses have all been close and if Defiant shows he could very easily be rusty. IF Defiant shows. If. Tbh I really don’t think he will but if he does Tic can make this a good battle. But I think Def’s already moved on L

Tic Tac: 60/40

Sn00p (1-1) vs Cymbicort (1-1)
Sn00p’s great and if he can hang around, he’s almost certainly headed to champ matches. Cymbicort is one of my favorite newer heads (mostly because I see Symbicort adds once in awhile and think of him - no homo), but he struggles with wording. Sn00p has a pretty big edge here.

Sn00p: 70/30

Destroyer (1-3) vs JontheDon (0-0)
Destro is deadly when he shows, but I have no idea what to expect from him. Or Jon. Don’t know who Jon is so I give Des the edge

Destroyer: 70/30

Meth (0-1) vs Texcellence (0-1)
Meth will NS. L

Texcellence: 80/20

NotFracture (0-0) vs Bags (0-2)
Double NS.

So I've been in the LLL on RB for the last few weeks since I felt like battling and am running all of the battle stuff here... It's made me realize how much talent this league could have. Allen Knight is their champ and he just keys up everything. But most of them show. And with 70% of their will to battle, the talent here could really make an amazing league.

So if I could leave you with one thing, it's that this site has the talent, but seems to be resigned to being members of a text forum without actually engaging in text. That's a level of corny I thought was reserved for Masaii. And you guys can do better than that. Also that Bilal track was dope, go listen to that groove again.
