Winter Topical II: Semi Finals

SUMMARY OF RULES:

Verses are due FEB. 13th
[b] SATURDAY at 11:59 P.M. Pacific/West Coast or SUNDAY Feb. 14th 3:00 AM Eastern / 6:00 AM SATURDAY Feb. 14th Central European/London

Verses MUST be a minimum 10 lines or a maximum of 48 lines (or 650 words).

[color=red]Voting closes when a clear winner is voted for. Competitors must vote immediately on the other match. Failure to vote will result in NEGATIVE VOTES if you advance to the next round.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? You can technically start a match down three votes by failing to log a single vote the previous week.

As the darkness covered my hands I knew as I started...
this is my job, I have chosen this road...my mind departed.
memories are locked in each bullet that left my hand...
Stopping would be foolish there is a war that threatens man...
woman, child...I accept the chance to protect each one.

my heart leaps from my chest as the alarms blare...
I look around for my fellow man but they aren't there.
We have taken hits to our company, carried more than our share
equipped with the same hardware, served longer hours...
Yea...we put our souls on the line only to be disposed of.
only to return home beaten, while others have just blown up
I've known enough about this reality as I was growing up
We didn't choose to live this lifestyle...it chose us.
Our communication broke up several days prior...
there is more to lose, than there is to gain. the price of an empire
the emotion drains from my face & my pride lays in the fire
my source of closure arrives in the faces of hundreds of survivors
the war is over...with the factory shut down, none of us are getting hired
