I ask because I am personally unsure...pondered it on and off for years.
Obviously he's a legend, but in terms of a list...I honestly don't know where I'd put him.
Where ever you rank cube at.... Put snoop 2 ranks ahead.

Snoop Dogg at his best was better than Ice Cube. But Ice Cube was far more consistent —he's actually still really good, when he raps.
To me, they're the top two from Los Angeles.

1990's Young snoop was a beaasssttttt. 2000's + snoop is blah
Doggystyle is arguably the best rap debut all time. As a whole, I'd put Snoop in the top 15, maybe higher. Easy to take his crossover appeal for granted, but he's a cultural icon way beyond rap.

he more than deserve his place on 'hip hop greats' lists.. even if 90% of his songs are poppy garbage these days you know hes doing what he got to do to survive n keep the cash flowing.

Doggystyle is arguably the best rap debut all time.
If we take out groups and solo debuts by rappers who were in groups, I'd have it as the best non-New York debut album, probably, maybe.
These are my top 10 debut albums that fit into that category (solo rapper who wasn't previously in a group that released an album):
1. Nas, Illmatic
2. Notorious B.I.G., Ready to Die
3. Jay-Z, Reasonable Doubt
4. O.C., Word ... Life
5. Slick Rick, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick
6. Big Pun, Capital Punishment
7. Snoop Doggy Dogg, DoggyStyle
8. Young Jeezy, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101
9. Redman, Whut? Thee Album
10. 50 Cent, Get Rich or Die Tryin'
(Note: I counted Infinite as Eminem's debut and Section.80 as Kendrick Lamar's debut.)
Obviously, my taste swings toward the East Coast. I don't have a problem with someone having DoggyStyle at or nearer to the top of that list. But I will say that putting DoggyStyle above The Chronic seems like a stretch.

Agreed. Think about all the hype and anticipation for his debut album after the chronic. Not only did he live up to it, he surpassed what people expected of it

man, I still haven't been able to get a hold of All Balls Don't Bounce. Couldn't find it on torrents like a year or so ago when you mentioned it.
but yeah, I'd put it behind Nas and Biggie for sure, personally I like it better than Reasonable Doubt since Hov was riding off the established NY classicism of Illmatic and Ready to Die (not to say RD was derivative, just not groundbreaking). You could say that about Doggystyle vis a vis The Chronic, but I'd disagree. The Chronic established the west coast stylistically, but Doggystyle perfected it - I think it's aged a lot better than The Chronic tbh.

ppl aren't roasting you for not liking snoop, so much as the reasoning behind it
like.. you say he "gets away" with simple rhymes because his voice and his swag (there's more to it than that, that makes him dope). but to be quite honest all the things that make snoop dope are more important to hip hop than his ability to make complex rhyme schemes.
gimme music with vibe and personality over any of them monotone lyrical miracle cats any day.
and I like underground/indie hip hop too. I fuck with a lot of "lyricist" type rappers. but they music has to have a vibe to it. and multies and punchlines for the sake of multis n punchlines gets old quick.
there's no wrong opinion tho here tho, nahmean. to each their own, diffrint strokes, etc.

Thinking of a master plan
Cause ain’t nothing but sweat inside my hand
So I dig into my pocket, all my money spent
So I dig deeper, but still coming up with lint
So I start my mission, leave my residence
Thinking how could I get some dead presidents
I need money, I used to be a stick-up kid
So I think of all the devious things I did
I used to roll up, this is a hold up, ain’t nothing funny
Stop smiling, be still, don’t nothing move but the money
But now I learned to earn cause I’m righteous
I feel great so maybe I might just search for a 9 to 5
If I strive then maybe I’ll stay alive
So I walk up the street, whistling this
Feeling out of place cause, man, do I miss
A pen and a paper, a stereo, a tape of
Me and Eric B and a nice big plate of
This, which is my favorite dish
But without no money it’s still a wish
Cause I don’t like to dream about getting paid
So I dig into the books of the rhymes that I made
So now's a test to see if I got pull
Hit the studio, cause I’m paid in full
